Merge is so excited to bring you this reissue of the Polvo’s debut double 7-inch, Can I Ride, out November 22nd!. All seven tracks from the 1990 EP are restored here, along with the addition of two songs found on the Vibracobra 7-inch from 1991 to fit on one glorious 12-inch LP. Polvo’s influence on experimental guitar rock has been insurmountable since they formed in Chapel Hill back in 1990. Through six classic albums for Merge and Touch & Go, they redefined what a punk band could be mixing influences from avant-jazz, psychedelia & world music into their buzzing noise rock without ever losing an ounce of melody. Besides helping pioneer the genre what has since been known as “math rock”, they influenced new generations of experimental acts such as Battles, Pile, U.S. Maple, Palm, Palberta & more.
