Originally released in South Africa in 2001, MOSKITO's Idolar just got a Stateside (and beyond) reissue courtesy of the incomparable Awesome Tapes from Africa last week! I spent the better half of the morning repeat spinning the record and it hit just right. Blends of hip hop and local dance infuse with heavy, ricocheting house beats to make a pretty inspiring earth-moving debut. Party starter, day coaxer, energy upper, it's good for a boost.
