The dates showcased the pianist with a number of great players, trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Philly Joe Jones. As the original producer Orrin Keepnews stated, Evans' first trumpet choice had been Art Farmer, who was unavailable.
